Shooting, rebounding woes stymie Resorters

REEDSVILLE – Poor shooting and rebounding hurt the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters as they fell to Reedsville, 49-34, in the consolation bracket first-round game of the Big East Conference Boys Basketball Tournament here Tuesday night.

The Resorters shot only 27 percent from the field and made just 5 of 13 free throws. Elkhart was outrebounded 34-18.

“We got hammered on the boards and in the post. We shot poorly and if Dante [Miller] had not shot well, this would have been a blowout,” said Resorter head coach Ray Mlada.

Miller, a junior guard, led Elkhart’s offense with 20 points, including six treys. Caleb Broaddus had a team-high five rebounds.

Dawson Farmer, a 6-foot-4 post player, led the Panthers in rebounds with 15 and scoring with 19 points.

The 12th-seeded Panthers improved to 6-14 while the Resorters dropped to 3-17. Elkhart will face Mishicot in the 13th-place game of the tourney on Saturday at Lakeland University at 9 a.m.
