The No. 4-seeded Tigers, 17-6, advance to the semifinals March 3 at home against No. 5-seeded Markesan. The victor moves on to the finals March 4 against the winner of the Laconia-Winnebago Lutheran semifinal game. The title game will be held at the higher seed. Laconia is seeded No. 1 and WLA, No. 8.

Princeton/Green Lake, seeded 13th, finished 7-16.

“We did a nice job against Princeton/Green Lake, especially in the second half. We allowed 10 points and held them scoreless until around the eight-minute mark in the second half,” said Tiger head coach Wade Georgeff.

“We settled in nicely in the second half. The guys made a decision to get after it on defense. I think that’s the reason for the kind of second half we had.”

HG had an impressive 20 steals, led by Caleb Holzman with six and Bryce Pedrin, five.

Holzman and Bryce Pedrin sparked HG’s attack with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Pedrin hit a team-high 11 in the first half to lead the Tigers to a 31-20 halftime lead. Holzman erupted for 14 points in the second half to key his team’s offense.

Jack Baldwin paced HG in assists with four and Austin Bender made three. Eric Reinemann led in rebounding with five.

“Bryce Pedrin and Caleb Holzman did a nice job of knocking down outside shots early, then taking it to the basket after the defense rushed at them on the perimeter,” said Georgeff.

Pedrin sank three threepoint goals and Holzman hit one in the opening half.
