Dieter Dreckschmidt (82 years), beloved husband of Sandra (Zovne) and resident of Plymouth, Wisconsin, passed on to his eternal home early Friday, March 17, 2017, in the presence of family.

He was born to the late Marie and Friedrich Dreckschmidt on August 25, 1934, in Wittigshoefen, Kr. Goldap, Germany. He served as a carpentry apprentice in Meesdorf, Kr. Melle, Germany for three years, achieving master carpentry status. Migrating to America in 1954, he joined his two brothers Botho and Guenter in Sheboygan, WI. He diligently worked in carpentry at Ebenreiter Furniture Company (20 yrs), Haegler Construction (5 yrs) and Quasius Construction (18 yrs) until his retirement on February 1, 1997. During this time, he was highly sought after to build specialty cabinetry in the community.

On June 20, 1959, Dieter married Sandra, whom he met at the Sheboygan Sports Club while playing soccer, his favorite pastime sport. In their first years of marriage, Dieter enjoyed dancing with Sandy and sang in the Concordia Singing Society. Dieter thrived in the outdoors - fishing, hiking and camping with family. Many admired his beautiful gardens, and his grandchildren delightfully hunted for Easter eggs in “Opa’s woods.” If not outside, one could find him in his carpentry shop, making furniture for his family and toys for his grandkids. As his grandkids grew up, one could often find him at their sports games and musical performances as one of their biggest cheerleaders. He especially enjoyed multiple visits to his family in Germany. In retirement, Dieter and Sandy traveled with their RV to many national parks, Alaska being the highlight. He also enjoyed puzzling and reading.

Throughout his life, Dieter steadily devoted himself to loving God and others as a husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Along with his beloved wife of 57 years, Dieter is survived by his sons David (Karen) Dreckschmidt, Green Bay, and Daniel (Nancy) Dreckschmidt, Madison; daughter Lynn (Jay) Wriedt, Pewaukee; grandchildren Michael and Miranda Dreckschmidt and Nicole, Betsy and Jenny Wriedt; sisters Elfriede and Crystal; and brothers Botho, Guenter, Werner and Ernst.

In addition to his parents, Dieter was preceded in death by an infant son Mark; sisters Inge and Irmgard; and brothers Walter and Manfred.
