To the Editor,

As spring arrives, the Sheboygan Area Salvation Army wishes to share its gratitude for a winter of successes. Among its many services, the organization’s seasonal activities brought warm weather clothing and the joy of Christmas to area families. And, the success of the agency’s Christmas Campaign will provide services for for thousands of neighbors in need throughout 2017.

The Salvation Army’s winter season kicked off with the Coats for Kids drive, held in partnership with Reinbold-Novak

Funeral Home who organized the collection of donated items. Dozens of volunteers distributed the warm weather essentials, providing nearly a thousand donated coats, as well as hats, mittens and scarves, to those in need.

The generosity of area individuals, churches and companies made a joyful Christmas possible for hundreds of families. This year, more than 1,100 people received gifts as a result of the community’s support.

Finally, after struggling to meet an ambitious $525,000 Christmas goal, the generosity of the Sheboygan area again shone bright. When all was accounted for, the Sheboygan Area Salvation Army was thrilled to find it had exceeded its goal, finishing the annual funding drive with $533,479.

Corps Officer Lt. Daryl Mangeri summed up The Salvation Army’s winter season by concluding, "We are so thankful to the community for enabling us to accomplish so much. Giving warmth in the midst of winter and sharing the joy of Christmas is truly a blessing. And, to be able to not only meet, but exceed our Christmas goal is just incredibly humbling. We are so grateful to the citizens of Sheboygan County for their ongoing support. God bless you."
