Petrie sinks 1,000th

School junior Jared Petrie moved into the varsity boys basketball record books after finishing the 2016-2017 season with 1,000 career points.

Petrie finished the season by breaking into the 1,000-point club with a total of 1,101 career points in his third season on varsity.

He now stands in fourth place on the SFHS all-time career scoring list behind Ed

Kalupa, who scored 1,150 points between 1959 and 1962.

Petrie also set other single season and career records, during the 2016-2017 campaign.

Petrie scored 479 points during the season to finish second behind John Mauer, who scored 507 points in 1975-

76.

Petrie also moved into eighth place in total career field goals with 355, trailing Scott Meyer, who tallied 464 points between

1979 and 1981.

Petrie set career marks in free throws, moving into fourth place with 219 total free throws made behind Tom Kamppainen, who registered 240 between

1953 and 1955.

Petrie set the school record for free throw percentage, hitting 85.3 percent from the foul line on 81-of-95 made shots to pass Gig Christenson, who shot 84.6 percent during the 1973-74 campaign.

Petrie has the third best free throw shooting average in program history at 77.1 percent.

He trails Lee Wilcox, who shot 81.4 percent from the foul line during his career.
