EDNA HASSINGER

Edna Hassinger, 101, of Plymouth passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Rocky Knoll Health Care.

Edna was born on April 22, 1915 in the Town of Russell to the late Walter and Katherine (Buchman) Henschel. She attended Elkhart Lake High School and was employed at various businesses throughout her life, including The Youth Center. On July 27, 1940 she married Raymond Hassinger in Dubuque, Iowa. The couple lived in Sheboygan until moving to the Plymouth area. Ray preceded her in death on December 14, 1992.

Edna was a loyal woman who loved to help with the Ladies Aide at Salem Plankroad U.C.C., where she was currently a member. She was also a member of the Loyalty Chapter #118 Order of the Eastern Star in Plymouth.

Edna enjoyed dancing and playing cards, but what she was famous for was her baking, primarily her petit four cakes. Wedding cakes was something she was also well known for.

Edna is survived by three sons, David Hassinger of Elkhart Lake, Keith Hassinger of Kiel, and Roy (Bernie) of Kalispell, MT; seven grandchildren, Lori (Rick) Schmitt, Mike (Sandy) Hassinger, Brett (Diane) Hassinger, Barbara (Adrian) Moore, Susan (Tyler) Randal, Lexie (Brian) Kerr, and Jeremy Hassinger; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Barbara Henschel of De- Forest, WI.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; two daughters-in-law, Judy Hassinger and Sharon Hassinger; four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Edna were held at 3 PM on Wednesday, March 29 at Salem Plankroad U.C.C., with Rev. Cheryl Lepak officiating. Burial will be at the Salem Plankroad Cemetery. Friends and family could gather at the church, N5691 CTY Rd M on Wednesday from 1 PM until the time of the service at 3 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to Salem Plankroad United Church of Christ.

Edna’s family would like to thank Rocky Knoll Health Care for their care and compassion given to Edna the past 7 years. The family would also like to thank Deb Hallbach for the friendship she gave to Edna; it meant so much that you were there.
