SHERMAN — A public hearing preceded the monthly Town Board’s meeting Wednesday.

Dan and Diana Flagstad of Cascade requested a conditional use permit to build a new home on their property zoned A-1 (agricultural land preservation). The town’s farmland preservation guidelines require this permit for a new home to be built on A-1 land.

Town Chairman William Goehring noted that the Plan Commission had unanimously recommended approval of the request to the Town Board. There were no comments or questions, so the public hearing was adjourned in less than three minutes.

The board meeting was then convened, during which the Flagstads’ request was unanimously approved, again with no questions or comments.

Goehring recommended the re-appointment of Douglas Miller, and the appointment of Jim Steffen, both for three-year terms to the Plan Commission.

Steffen will take a vacancy left by David Heidel, who has been on the commission for many years. His current three year term was up, and he had indicated to Goehring that he has decided not to continue serving on the commission.

The board unanimously approved the two appointments, and expressed appreciation for Heidel’s years of service.

Goehring re-appointed Kay Johannes and Dale Becker to the town’s Board Of Appeals for three-year terms. The board unanimously approved both.

The board unanimously approved accepting a bid for $10,700 from Crack Filling Services Corp. of Cross Plains for road maintenance work.

Clerk/Treasurer Rhonda Klatt reported that voting went very well, the day before. There were no issues, and everything went smoothly.

The board will conduct its spring road tour on Saturday, April 15.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, April 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the village of Random Lake Municipal Building. The subject will be the planned repaving of State 144, from the intersections of State 28, 144, and County D west of Silver Creek, eastward to where State 144 ends at State 57.

The town’s annual meeting will be Tuesday, April 18, 7 p.m. Open Book will be Monday, April 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. Board of Review will be Thurs., May 18, 7 to 9 p.m.

The next monthly board meeting will be Tuesday, May 2, 7 p.m.

The winter schedule is no longer in effect at the transfer station. Starting with April, it will be open every Saturday.
