The EWC meet was the dual opener for PHS.

“A tough way to start our season against some returning state qualifiers and a team in Kohler that is loaded this season with aims at a team state victory,” said Panther head coach Scott Milslagle.

“Our kids played hard on a cold afternoon but just didn’t have the experience to keep up with Kohler.

PHS senior Gavin Binversie, faced Casey Johnson, the defending Division 2 state champion Casey Johnson in the No. 1 singles match. Binversie was coming off an achilles injury suffered at Saturday’s Kaukauna Invitational. Binversie and his older brother, Gabe, competed at D-2 state last year in doubles.

“Gavin played far better than the score would indicate and his play makes me feel very confident that he will play well and succeed the rest of the season,” said PHS head coach Scott Milslagle.

Johnson defeated Binversie 6-1, 6-0.

“Cedric Schamberger, in his first match for Plymouth, played against two-time state qualifier Archie Brohn and couldn’t quite get on track. Again, he played well enough to win most matches he will play this season and I expect Cedric to contend for an allconference spot at No. 2 singles by the end of the season,” said Milslagle.

Broh downed Schamberger 6-0, 6-2.
