Nurse to chair state cancer organization

The American Cancer Society, the nation’s largest voluntary health organization, has chosen Mary Schueller, MSN, RN, AOCNS, CHPN to serve as the 2017 chair of its State Leadership Board in Wisconsin. Working in partnership with Society staff, Schueller will provide strategic guidance to a group of more than 20 other volunteer leaders from across Wisconsin who are working to advance the Society’s lifesaving mission.

The American Cancer Society’s State Leadership Board is a group of highly- engaged community influencers whose efforts support the Society’s annual fundraising and mission goals.

Board members serve as ambassadors in their communities, building relationships with corporate partners, health systems, advocacy leaders, and other stakeholders to grow revenue and connect everyone touched by cancer with the Society.

Schueller has served as an American Cancer Society volunteer for 29 years. She’s passionate about the Society’s research program and connecting patients to the support they need to get well.

In recognition of her compassion and care of those with cancer and their families, Schueller received the Society’s prestigious Lane Adams Award in 1999.

Schueller is an oncology clinical nurse educator for the Hospital Sisters Health System - Eastern Wisconsin Division.

She also volunteers for several other community organizations such as the Sheboygan Pops Concert Band, Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund, and Alverno College School of Nursing.
