Indians’ Laehn no-hits Panthers

PLYMOUTH – Sophomore Kennedy Laehn threw a no hitter as Kewaskm rolled past the Plymouth Panthers, 15-0, in East Central Conference softball action Tuesday afternoon at Gale Grahn Field.

Laehn had a perfect game until Maddy Straub drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the fifth inning. Straub was the only Panther to reach base. Laehn fanned 12 batters.

The Indians improved to 1-2 in the ECC (1-2 overall). PHS fell to 1-4 in league play (2-7 overall). The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

“Offensively we struggled – facing a pitcher who threw hard. She was tough last night,” said PHS head coach Dawn Krebsbach.

“Defensively, we fell asleep, allowing a girl to steal home.”

Kewaskum banged out 17 hits, led by sophomore Madeline Geidel who had four, including a two-run homer. Geidel had a team-high six RBIs.

Sylvia Peters took the loss and went the distance. Peters walked five, struck out four and allowed 14 earned runs.
