Fairest

To the Editor,

I am writing to promote the Sheboygan County Fairest of the Fair Program. Applications are now available and are due Monday, May 1st, 2017. The applications are available at www.shebcofair.com.

The fairest program focuses heavily on professional development, public speaking, media relations, and organizing several different presentations and workshops.

As Fairest, you are the media spokesman and official host of the Sheboygan County Fair. Your summer will be filled with promoting the Sheboygan County Fair to a variety of audiences, including parades, organization presentations, and many family picnics.

If you have a passion for the Sheboygan County Fair, this position is for you! Along with sharing your passion, you will develop professionalism. You will learn how to present to a wide variety of groups and gain public speaking skills.

Another very beneficial opportunity is learning to prepare for media interviews and conduct media interviews. As Fairest you will gain hands on experience writing media advisories and conducting various television and radio interviews to promote the Sheboygan County Fair, and the fairest program.

Being Fairest allows you to be involved in a great deal of activities at the fair including some that you have the opportunity to plan. Some things you may be expected to prepare are a Fair Fact game that is presented before the Grandpa Cratchet Show, a presentation for the AgVenture Tent, and the annual Fairest and Celebrity Cream Puff Eating Contest.

You will also be involved in other fun events at the fair like welcoming audiences to livestock shows, the Grandstand events, and be the EMCEE for the children’s Farmerbud Showmanship Contest.

You will never feel lost or alone because the Fairest Committee is an outstanding resource and they will make you are on track and well prepared.

Planning and presenting activities will allow you to gain many skills that will be useful in your future including professional communication, organization, and time management.

If you are thinking about applying, please do! Serving as Sheboygan County’s Fairest of the Fair is a remarkable experience.

You will grow socially, personally, and professionally. This experience will prepare you greatly for your future career. It is real life experience that looks great on a resume.

Even if you are not selected, going through the process will teach you public speaking, professional development, and interview skills that will last a lifetime!
