Emergency department nurse honored

The Excellence in Donation Award is given to individuals that show exemplary care and compassion for individuals and families during the life-saving process of organ donation. It is awarded annually by BloodCenter of Wisconsin to health care providers throughout the region. Angie Ziske, a nurse in the Emergency Department of HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital was presented the award April 12 during a ceremony at the hospital to honor National Donate Life Month.

“As an emergency department nurse, I am reminded each day that life is a gift,” said Angie upon her acceptance of the award. “If you have a life, live it. When there comes a time you no longer have life, please consider giving it.”

“BloodCenter of Wisconsin is proud to honor Angie for the extraordinary care and compassion she provided a donor patient and their family,” said Molly Kast, BloodCenter of Wisconsin spokeswoman. “We also extend our deepest gratitude to donors and donor families who have generously given so that others may live.”
