Lilek, Luedtke lead PHS to lopsided win

RIPON – Carly Lilek and Kaitlyn Luedtke scored two goals each to propel the Plymouth Panthers to a 9-0 drubbing of Ripon in a girls soccer match here Thursday afternoon.

The shutout was the Panthers’ fourth in a row in East Central Conference action. PHS, which has outscored the ECC opposition by an impressive 28-0, upped its leagueleading record to 4-0 (5-1-1 overall).

Contributing one goal each were Tatum Eigenberger, Kaylee Koenig, Ellie Welsch, Sydney Robinson and Kersten Dewey. Jayda Martell, Brooke Fredrickson, Eigenberger and Sarah Morris had one assist apiece.

The Panthers held a whopping 23-0 advantage in shots on goal. Tiger goalies Larryn Smerling and Marissa Olson combined for 14 saves.

“We wanted to hold possession and we did a fairly good job doing that. This was our first game on turf and we definitely struggled to connect multiple passes early on,” said Panther head coach Brad Feick.

“The ball played faster than we were used to. We were often reaching rather than being in position. Ripon fought hard from beginning to end.

“Carly Lilek got us going with a goal in the 11th minute. It was set up by Sydney Robinson passing the ball to Martell on the wing who played the ball across the goal to Lilek attacking from the right wing. It was a very well- played combination,” said Feick.
