Volunteers to renovate four homes

Rebuilding Together Sheboygan County, an affiliate of the national organization, and its sponsors are engaging local volunteers and leaders to rehabilitate four homes on National Rebuilding Day, Saturday, April 29.

Rebuilding Together Sheboygan County along with nearly 200 fellow affiliates across the country, with the help of more than 50,000 volunteers, will rehabilitate and improve low-income homeowners’ homes at no cost. Recipients of services include the elderly, persons with disabilities, military veterans and families in need.

“We have a great group of volunteers and generous sponsors who are ready to make a difference in our community by helping people who truly need it,” said Charlie Wigg, president of Rebuilding Together Sheboygan County.

Extensive work in Sheboygan County will be taking place throughout the homes, including window installation, plumbing, painting and masonry. In addition to local trade professionals donating their time, four corporate sponsors will provide volunteer labor.

Longtime sponsor Kohler Co. and around 20 of its cur- rent and retired employees are returning to National Rebuilding Day to work on a home, as well as donating plumbing products to all four houses.

Another home is being accomplished through the Sears Heroes at Home program. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sheboygan Falls, and members of its congregation will be volunteering to complete the labor.

Sheboygan Rotary Club and Nemschoff have joined this year as a house sponsors.

Rebuilding Together is a Safe and Healthy Housing organization that believes Community Starts at Home.
