Renzelmann powers Blue Bombers past Elkhart

ELKHART LAKE – Sophomore forward Samantha Renzelmann’s hat trick sparked Kohler to an 8-2 rout over the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters in a Big East Conference girls soccer match here Monday afternoon.

The Blue Bombers, who mounted a 5-1 halftime lead, hiked their BEC record to 4-1 (5-2 overall). The Resorters dropped to 2-4 in the league (3-4 overall).

“It was a game where you felt you were playing well. We worked the ball but when you looked to the scoreboard we were down 5-1 at half. Small errors in the middle of the field opened holes and girls had to cover, and this allowed the opportunities for Kohler,” said Resorter head coach Kevin Ruh.

Senior forward Camrie Schmitz scored Elkhart’s goals.

Isabel O’Donnell tallied two goals for Kohler and teammates Cecelia Zielke, Angela Schmitt and Molly Thomack had one each.

“Kohler capitalized on all of their opportunities tonight – not missing any of the free looks they had,” said Ruh.
