Mentink nets 200th victory

The Sheboygan Falls High School girls soccer team posted its second shutout victory of the season by blanking NEW Lutheran/Southern Door 9-0 Tuesday, April 25.

With the victory, Falls improved to 2-0 in the Eastern Wisconsin/Packerland Conference (2-0 overall).

Danika Carroll led the scoring for Falls with two goals and two assists. Maddie Specht scored two goals, while Emma Wollert had one goal and two assists for the Falcons.

Rachel Wilke, Carson DePagter and Makayla Shaver scored one goal each, while Shaver and Lauren Louko added one assist apiece for Falls.

The victory was Mentink’s 200th as the Falcons’ girls head coach. Mentink has coached the Falls girls soccer team for the past 13 seasons, leading the program to a record of 200-52-19 with six conference championships and eight regional titles.

“We’ve been looking forward to good competition,” Falcon’s head coach Brian Mentink said. “However, the weather hasn’t been in our favor.”

The Falcons have had five games cancelled or postponed due to weather this year.
