Falcons top Milwaukee Pius at North Invite

Falls News photo by Steve Ottman The Sheboygan Falls High School softball team won its second game of the season with an 11-8 triumph over Milwaukee Pius XI at the Sheboygan North Invitational Saturday, April 29.

Falls lost 22-0 to Oshkosh West and 8-6 to Divine Holy Savior Academy in the other two games. With the victory over Milwaukee Pius XI, the Falcons improved to 2-6 overall.

Falls scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 10-3 commanding lead en route to an 11-8 victory.

Emily Koller led the Falls batting effort going 2-for-2 with four runs scored. Avery Olafson was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two runs batted in. Caitlin Trumm, Brianna Hausler and Amanda Senglaub each had two hits for the Falcons.

“We played well in games 1 and 3,” said Falcons’ head coach Matt Bayens. “We made a nice comeback in game 3 after being down 7-0 early. Koller had a nice day, collecting six hits and scoring five runs.”

Brillion shutout the Falcons 10-0 in an Eastern Wisconsin Conference contest Tuesday, April 25. Allison Berger and Koller had the only two hits for the Falls squad.

The SFHS JV team defeated Brillion 12-8 last week.

Brooke Schleicher was the winning pitcher for the Falcons tallying eight strikeouts. Schleicher went 3-for-4 at the plate to pace the Falls offense. Avery Olafson finished 3-for-4 with four runs batted in, while Hope Miller was 3-for-3 at the plate.
