Silent health care protest organized

Forward Sheboygan has planned a candlelight vigil in Sheboygan on Friday, May 12th at Fountain Park (Erie Avenue and 8th Street) at 8 p.m. in response to the passing of the republican healthcare bill that removes 24 million people from their health insurance.

Citizens with pre-existing conditions may be in danger of losing their healthcare due to the denial of their health insurance or due to the increased costs of health insurance.

Interested citizens are encouraged to bring their own candles (or download a candlelight app to their phone) and a sign that shares how a pre-existing condition has impacted someone in their family.

There will be a free sign making session on Thursday, May 11 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Paradigm Coffee &Music (1202 N. 8th St.).

The silent protest on Friday, May 12 at Fountain Park will begin at 8 p.m. and conclude at 8:24 p.m. Each minute shall reflect one million citizens losing their healthcare.
