Panthers finish ECC mini-meet play strong

The Plymouth boys golf team put itself in good shape going into the East Central Conference’s 18-hole tournament after finishing high in the final two ECC nine-hole minimeets of the season Friday afternoon.

The Panthers edged Kewaskum, 159-160, in the mini-meet at the Hon-E-Kor Golf Course in Kewaskum.

PHS and Kewaskum also battled for first in the other event on Friday, held at the Auburn Bluffs Golf Club in Campbellsport, with Kewaskum winning the rematch on a tiebreaker. They both shot 161 and Kewaskum gains first via the better fifth player’s score.

PHS leads the ECC point standings with 12, followed by Kewaskum with 16. The eight mini-meets, combined with the 18-hole tourney, are used to determine the overall ECC champion. The Panthers won five of the eight mini-meets.

Cade Knaus tied for third with a 3-over-par 38 to lead PHS at Hon-E-Kor’s Blue Course. The Panthers’ other low players were Jake Willeford with a 39, Cole Bogenschuetz, 40 and Johno Aschenbach, 42.

The medalist was Waupun’s Colin Holz with a 1-under-par 34.

Knaus and Waupun’s Tucker Lemmenes were the co-medalists at Auburn Bluffs with 1-over-par 37s. Aschenbach tied for third with a 38.
