UW-Sheboygan commencement set for Monday

Greg Lampe, provost and vice-chancellor of the UW Colleges, will deliver UW-Sheboygan’s commencement address on Monday, May 22.

As the UW Colleges chief academic officer, Lampe provides leadership for long-range institutional growth and access, curricular oversight and management, and academic and program review at the academic department and program level. Lampe completed his master’s degree from Northern Illinois University and his doctorate degree from UW-Madison. He began his career with the UW Colleges at the Marshfield/ Wood County campus in 1983.

UW-Sheboygan’s Graduate of the Year is Michaela Possley of Cedar Grove. A graduate of Cedar Grove-Belgium High School, Possley plans to transfer to UWOshkosh this fall, to complete her bachelor's degree in both marketing and finance, with a minor in mathematics Her career goal is to be a market research analyst or a financial analyst, but she is “leaving my options open.”

According to Michaela, UWSheboygan “provided me with a well-rounded education and strengthened my character. I became a leader as vice-president of the Student Government Association and developed good customer service and interpersonal skills being both an information resources intern in the campus library and mathematics tutor in the Student Success Center.”

Class valedictorian is James Dean of Adell. Dean has shown a high level of commitment to his studies while working in multiple departments on campus. Dean has served campus by assisting students with account questions in the Business Office, giving tours, and assisting with campus events. He also participated in the Business Club and Boards, Swords, and Cords events. After completing his Associate Degree with UW- Sheboygan mid-year, he is now attending UW-Whitewater majoring in accounting with a minor in media art and game design. His career goals are to work as a financial advisor for individual clients helping them reach their financial dreams.

The main focus of the evening will be recognizing the accomplishments of graduating UW-Sheboygan students. This includes 14 bachelor degrees and more than 100 associate degree awards. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. UW-Sheboygan is located at One University Drive in Sheboygan. Free parking is available. For more information, visit www.sheboygan.uwc.edu.
