Falcons rack up key victories

With the wins, Falls improved to 5-1 in the Eastern Wisconsin/ Packerland Conference (10-3-1 overall).

The Falcons managed a late goal to shutout Kiel 1-0 Thursday, May 18.

Emma Wollert sent a crossing shot to Lauren Louko for the game’s only goal in the 77th minute of the second half.

Falls pounded Valders 10-0 Tuesday, May 16.

Louko and Danika Carroll scored two goals each and Carroll had three assists for the Falcons. Sarah Fenn, MaKayla Shaver, Morgan DePagter, Wollert, Emma Teetzen and Jenna Kaland scored one goal each to guide the Falls unit.

Maddie Specht added three assists, Wollert made two assists, while Morgan and Carson DePagter had an assist for the Falcons.

The Falcons blanked Plymouth 1-0 in a weathershortened game Monday, May 15. Wollert scored unassisted as she dribbled a shot into the left side of the net at the 37 minute mark of the first half. Lightning halted the game shortly into the second half/

Falls tied Iron Mountain, Michigan 1-1 at the Luxemburg Tournament Saturday, May 20. Carroll scored the only goal on an assist from Morgan DePagter.

The Falcons defeated Shawano 4-1 in the second game. Carson DePagter and Specht scored two goals each, while Carroll made two assists and Carroll and Wollert had one assist each for the Falls unit.

“We started the week strong,” said Falcons’ head coach Brian Mentink. “However, I thought we struggled at times scoring this weekend.”

Falls trails New Holstein by a game and needs a win and a Kiel win over New Holstein to earn a share of the conference title with one game remaining.
