The Tigers dropped to 12-4-1 in the BEC (14-5-1 overall). The Zephyrs improved to 14-3 in the league (16-3-1 overall).

Oostburg has clinched the BEC title (17-0 in the BEC through Thursday). The Zephyrs have wrapped up second and the Tigers have clinched third in the league.

Katie Guse scored the Tigers’ goal late in the game.

Abby Wisneski’s two goals gave St. Mary a 2-0 halftime lead. Wisneski also scored a goal in the second half. Ruth Meier tallied the Zephyrs’ other goal.

Tiger goalie Olivia Stauss made nine saves. Zephyr goalie Raven Ferry-LeClair had 16 saves.

“I had expected us to play better. One game we look unbeatable and the next game we look very average. Maybe we got caught looking ahead to the state tournament

[regional play] next week,” said Tiger head coach David Kisiolek.

“We continue to have problems putting the ball in the back of the net. We are good at getting shots – we are just not good at finishing shots.

“Kayla Bender at forward and Kate Bruckschen at defense had outstanding games for Howards – playing both aggressively and intelligently,” said the coach.
