Vollbrecht, Cain lead Resorters to debut win

The Big East Conference small-school division game was the Resorters’ season opener.

Cain allowed one earned run on only four hits with seven strikeouts and just one walk. Max Kossman pitched a score- less seventh.

Cain also had a team-high three hits to go with two RBIs. Kossman and Tyler Schultz scored a team-high two runs each.

Kyle Fowler had one RBI for K/SC. Fowler was the losing pitcher. He surrendered three runs (all earned) on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts in five innings.

EL-OZAUKEE GAME

Elkhart is 1-1 in the division and 1-1 overall on the season.

Garrett Hoffman twirled five-hitter en route to the win. Hoffmann gave up two earned runs and only one walk to go with four strikeouts.

Cain and Jordan Bahr paced EL-G in hits with two each. Bahr also led in RBIs with two. Cain also scored a team-high two runs.

The Warriors had three batters with two hits each – Ben Berweger, Danny Johnson and Logan Bell. Brent Hoffmann and Berweger had a team-high two RBIs apiece.

Max Kossman started on the mound for Elkhart and took the loss. Kossman allowed five runs (four earned) and one walk while striking out four in five innings.
