DeZwarte honored



Sarah DeZwarte (right), director of education at the Sheboygan County’s YMCA Camp Y-Koda Outdoors Skills and Education center, was presented the Outdoor Educator of the Year award by the Sheboygan County Conservation Association. The plaque was presented by Lil Pipping (left) of the association. She was nominated by association member Mike DeMaster. DeZwarte has held her position for the past 12 years. Every year more than 15,000 students from more than 60 different schools attend camp programs. Her principal job is to maintain the highest quality environmental education programs in the state at Camp Y-Koda Outdoor Skills and Education center. She also serves on the board of directors for the Sheboygan River Basin Partnership and is on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Broughton Sheboygan County Marsh Park, a non-profit which built the tallest wooden tower in the state and is now raising funds to build a new educational building at the marsh to promote their camp’s Wetland Ecology program for students of all ages.
