Falcons rally past EL-G in twinbill opener

SHEBOYGAN FALLS – The Sheboygan Falls Falcons scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, 9-6, in the opener of a Big East Conference baseball doubleheader here Friday.

Falls earned a sweep with an 11-1 rout in the nightcap. The Falcons upped their BEC record to 7-1 (7-4 overall). The Resorters dropped to 1-8 in the BEC (1-8 overall).

The Falcons trailed 6-5 heading into their half of the sixth. The big hits during the rally were two-run singles by Lucas Kaland and Jacoby Endreas.

JT Petrie was the winning pitcher in relief. Petrie pitched four innings and struck out five, walked one, hit a batter and gave up three hits.

Max Kossman took the loss and went the distance. Kossman allowed nine runs but only two were earned as Elkhart made seven errors. He gave up six hits and two walks while striking out four.

The Resorters collected eight hits, led by Tyler Schultz, Noah Ruh and Parker Vollbrecht with two each. Kossman and Brennen Cain had a team-high two RBIs each.

Endreas paced Falls in RBIs with three.


The Falcons exploded for five runs in the last of the first inning to take a 5-0 lead en route to victory in the nightcap. Mike Fischer’s two-run single was the key blow.

Ross Krist allowed only one hit as he earned the win. Krist fanned nine batters and gave up one walk.

The game ended after 4-2/3 innings due to the 10-run rule. Trae Theobald’s two-run single ended the game.

Cain was the Resorters’ starting and losing hurler. Ruh had a single for Elkhart’s only hit.
