Bridge work set on I-43

Bridge deck sealing work will be going on on a number of area state highways and Interstate 43 this week, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) northeast region office in Green Bay.

This week, the contractor anticipates mobilizing to site, setting up traffic control as needed, and finish sealing all bridge structures on I-43 beginning in Manitowoc County and Sheboygan County.

The contractor also anticipates beginning sealing various overpasses over I-43 as well as bridges on State 23, State 67, State 32 and State 28 in the county.

I-43, I-43 bridges, State 23, State 67, State 32 and State 28 will have various short-term lane closures at bridge structures in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties.

This project will include the furnishing and applying of a protective surface treatment to the entire top surface of the bridge deck, curb, including vertical face, median or sidewalk surfaces and the inside faces and tops of concrete parapets or railings.

On the I-43 repaving project from the Sheboygan/Manitowoc county line to State 42/I-43 interchange, the contractor this week will continue base patching of the concrete pavement on the inside lanes of northbound I-43 and begin on the southbound inside lane of I-43 southbound.

There will be single lane closures of northbound and southbound I-43 during construction, leaving one lane of traffic open for motorists in various segments of the project work zone. However, lane closures will be removed during peak travel times on the weekend.

Northbound I-43 will be down to a single lane of travel from 6 a.m. Saturday through 12 noon on Friday during construction.

All lanes open from 12 noon Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday during construction.

Southbound I-43 will be down to a single lane of travel from 6 a.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Sunday during construction.

All lanes open from 6 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday during construction.

There will be various nighttime closures of the I-43/State 42 interchange ramps for paving operations.
