Vernon Vilas Kelling, age 90, of Random Lake, passed away on Saturday (June 17, 2017) at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Facility in Sheboygan Falls.

He was born in the Town of Fredonia on August 19, 1926, son of the late Edwin and Cynthia (Stahl) Kelling.

Vernon attended Clover Valley Grade School in Fredonia and Random Lake High School.

On December 4, 1948 he married Iris Mayer at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Sheboygan.

Vernon was a proud farmer taking care of his own farm. He also was a milk can hauler for many local cheese companies, worked 13 years at Gehl, and also helped with the cattle at 4H. He was known to always be willing to help cut grass around town and loved his polka dancing.

Vernon was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Random Lake.

He is survived by his loving wife: Iris of Random Lake; seven children: Mary Ellen Luedtke of Fredonia, Dave Kelling of Batavia, Roger (Colleen) Kelling of Cedar Grove, Dale (Mary Ann) Kelling of Waldo, Keith (Carol) Kelling of Random Lake, Steve Kelling of Adell and Lisa (Daniel) Roerdink of Oostburg; 22 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson on the way.

He is further survived by: Daughter in-law: Janice Kelling; Sister: Vivian Guenther of Plymouth; Brothersin law: Herman (Dorothy) Mayer of Sheboygan and Larry (Sandy) Mayer of Fredonia; Sisters-in-law: Joan Meyer of Kiel, Romelle (Wayne) Voigt of De Forest and Pat Kelling of Plymouth.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: His parents; Son: Jon; Two grandsons: Matthew Kelling and Douglas Luedtke; One great granddaughter; Two twin great grandsons; Brother: Dean Kelling; Daughter-in-law: Kaye; Two sisters in-law: Carol (Arnold) Voigt and Shirley Schlicting; and Three brothersin law: Frederick Meyer, Dennis Mayer, and Spencer Guenther.

Following Vernon’s wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on Friday (June 23, 2017) at 6:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Ann Utke, Pastor of St. John U.C.C. of Random Lake will officiate. Inurnment will be in Silver Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will take place on Friday (June 23) at the Suchon Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Vernon’s name.
