State bridge, road projects continues in county

Work will continue this week sealing various bridges on State 42, State 57, State 23, State 67, State 32 and State 28 in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) northeast region office in Green Bay.

This project will include the furnishing and applying of a protective surface treatment to the entire top surface of the bridge deck, curb, including vertical face, median or sidewalk surfaces and the inside faces and tops of concrete parapets or railings.

Each highway will have various short-term, one lane closures at each bridge structure in the counties.

On the Interstate 43 resurfacing project from the Sheboygan/ Manitowoc county line to State 42/I-43 interchange, crews this week will continue base patching of the concrete pavement on the inside lanes of northbound and southbound I-43.

The 6.9-mile, $6.2 million project, scheduled for completion in November, consists of concrete base patching of I-43 mainline, milling two inches of asphalt pavement and placing four inches of new asphalt pavement, ramp resurfacing at the I-43/State 42 interchange, culvert replacement, signing, and pavement marking.

All lanes of I-43 in the project area will be OPEN for the July 4th holiday travelers. Lane closures will begin again Wednesday morning, July 5. There will be single lane closures of northbound and southbound I-43 during construction, leaving one lane of traffic open for motorists in various segments of the project work zone. However, lane closures will be removed during peak travel times on the weekend.
