Blues Band headlines free outdoor music series

Daddy Mack Blues Band headlines the free July 6 Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series concert on the Arts Center’s Festival Green at New York Avenue and Seventh Street. The outdoor event also includes family-friendly activities.

When people say, “Memphis blues ain’t what it used to be,” they haven’t heard the Daddy Mack Blues Band. All of its members at one time or another played in the Fieldstones, one of the most talkedabout urban blues bands since the 1970s. “These guys, they are the blues,” says the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Led by Mack Orr on lead guitar and vocals, this fine group of musicians is downhome and funky, and the best band around for cuttin’ loose on a Saturday night—or a Thursday night in downtown Sheboygan! A staple of the blues on an international level since the late 90's, Daddy Mack has shared the stage with other notable musicians, including Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones. The band has toured across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Since 1998, they have been the house band at the Center for Southern Folklore on Beale Street, where thousands of tourists from all corners of the world have experienced their natural and soulful musical blend.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., opening act Zach Vinson will perform his indie piano pop/ rock. A native of Sheboygan, Vinson now lives in Nashville and has released a new EP titled How We Spend Our Days.

The event also includes the chance to learn basic weaving and work on a collaborative tapestry in the community activity tent on the grounds. The activity is free and open to ages 8 and older.

Information about this and other concerts in the series is available at concerts.levittamp.org/Sheboygan or at the Arts Center (608 New York Ave.).

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs as seating is not provided. Food trucks and a cash bar will be on site. No alcoholic carry-ins allowed.
