Dorf Kapelle at Buttermilk Fest

Dorf Kapelle will return for its 21st free Buttermilk Festival performance at the Wifler Performance Center in Buttermilk Creek Park, Fond du Lac on Wednesday, July 5. The evening of music will begin with Peggy Mueller entertaining on the button box at 6:00 p.m. and during intermission. Dorf Kapelle will take the stage at 7:15 p.m.

Dorf Kapelle was organized in 1988 and performed at the first Buttermilk Festival that year. With priority to the famous Ernst Mosch band of Germany, the Dorf library includes folk music from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, along with a few American favorites.

Leader Ernst Broeniman is retired from a long career as high school and city band director in Plymouth WI, and currently resides in Hortonville. Featured vocalist is Ernie’s granddaughter, Abby Broeniman, with additional vocals by her grandfather and her father Sam, along with members of the band.

A food concession and “bier garten” will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. In the event of unsuitable weather, the concert will be moved to the County Fairgrounds.
