Resorters sweep Big East twinbill

Elkhart collected nine hits in the opener which it won, 8-6. In the nightcap, the Resorters pounded out 16 hits en route to a 13-9 victory.

The Resorters raised their Big East Conference small-school division record to 4-13 (4-13 overall). The Crusaders fell to 1-16 in the division (1-16 overall).

Max Kossman led Elkhart in RBIs in game one with three and Jordan Bahr contributed two. Bahr and Kossman had a teamhigh two hits each. Tyler Schultz led in runs with three.

Max Ward was the winning picher. Ward started and went 5-1/3 innings – allowing four runs (all earned) on six hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. Brennen Cain earned save with 1-2/3 scoreless innings. Cain gave up one walk and two hits to go with three strikeouts.

The Resorters exploded for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a 9-7 deficit and go up 13-9 in the second game.

Schultz and Cain sparked the Resorters’ attack with three hits each. Kyle Lutzke and Ward added two apiece. Cain led in RBIs with three, followed by Schultz and Ward with two each.

Noah Ruh scored a team-high three runs for EL-G.

Ransom Yasko notched the win in relief. Yasko gave up no runs and one hit with zero walks and one strikeout in 1-1/3 innings.
