Panthers’ JV falls twice

PLYMOUTH – The Plymouth Panthers dropped a pair of junior varsity baseball games June 26 at Carl Loebe Field.

In the first game, PHS lost to New Holstein, 6-3. The Huskies outhit the Panthers 12-7.

Bennet Dale led PHS in hits with two. Eathan Lilyquist had one RBI. The Panthers stranded 10 baserunners.

Kyle Bermke was Plymouth’s starting pitcher and took the loss. Bermke went four innings and allowed five runs (all earned) on nine hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

In game two, Random Lake staved off a rally by PHS to win, 8-6. The Panthers were down 6-1 after 3½ innings. PHS tallied three runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull within 6-4 but were unable to come any closer the rest of the way.

The Rams led 10-3 in hits. Nick Thomas paced PHS at the plate with two hits. Thomas, Mitch Nelson and BradyAlbers had one RBI each.

Joe Mertes started at pitcher for PHS and took the loss. Mertes allowed six runs (three earned) on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts in four frames.
