Callahan, Holzman key Riverdogs’ rout

HOWARDS GROVE – Dylan Callahan cracked four hits and Ashton Holzman had four RBIs to spark the Howards Grove Riverdogs to a 12-0 thumping of visiting Chilton in an East Shore Baseball League game Sunday afternoon.

The contest was the Riverdogs opener in the second half of the league season. HG improved to 8-1 overall in league play.

Holzman clubbed his fifth home run of the season and also doubled. Mark Holzman contributed two hits for the Riverdogs.

HG exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Austin Edge pitched five scoreless innings en route to the win. Edge allowed only three hits, walked none and had three strikeouts. Brad Olson pitched the final two frames. The game ended after seven due to the 10- run rule.

Scott Jensen led Chilton in hits with two. John Kragh was the losing hurler.
