Elvira Irma Richter, age 75, of Elkhart Lake, WI was born to eternal life on Friday afternoon, July 21, 2017, surrounded by loved ones at her home following a courageous battle with ALS.

She was the former Elvira Vogel, born June 5th, 1942 in the town of Schleswig (county of Manitowoc), WI, and was 12th of 13 children born to the late Arno & Hattie (Schmitt) Vogel. Elvira attended grade school in Kiel and was a 1960 graduate of Plymouth High School. On June 8, 1963 she was united in marriage with Clarence Richter at Community United Church of Christ in Elkhart Lake.

Elvira dedicated her life to her family, her friends, and her home, with an incredible passion for her grandchildren. In addition to devoting her life to her family, she also worked many years at Sohn Mfg in Elkhart Lake, attended UCC in Elkhart Lake, and was a member of the Red Hatters. Elvira also loved cooking (and making her talents a gift to many), needlepoint, traveling (especially winters with Clarence and friends in Lake Havasu, AZ), and watching the Milwaukee Brewers.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Clarence; four children – Kevin (Pam) Richter, Kim (Steve) Perreault, Robert (Eileen) Richter, and Cori (Jason) Scheberl; twelve grandchildren – Jason, Dustin, Andy, Michael, Benjamin, James, Mikaela, Coltton, Morgan, Alex, Addison, and Mason; and two great-grandchildren – Brailynn and Teagan. She is further survived by her brother Vernon (Aggie) Vogel; brothersin law – Carl Richter, Wallace (Beth) Richter, and Keith Hassinger; sisters in-law – JoAnn (John) Harms, Diane (Richard) Ninnemann, Rosie Vogel, and Loretta Vogel, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers – Fred Vogel, Rueben Vogel, Elroy Vogel, Arlen (Betty Jane) Vogel, and Donald (Elaine) Vogel; and sisters – Lucinda (Melvin) Happel, Ellen (Norman) Lehrke, Elaine (Joe) Lisowe, Betty Niemuth, Judy Hassinger, and Mabel (Al) Lenz; and sisters-in-law – Joyce Richter and Janice Vogel.

Funeral services will be held at Community UCC in Elkhart Lake on Wednesday (July 26) at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Deborah Tyler will officiate.

Visitation will be at CHURCH from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Elkhart Lake.

In lieu of flowers, and for those wishing to donate in honor of Elvira, her wishes were gifts to JDRF, the MS Society, and/or United Church of Christ in Elkhart Lake.
