Agronomy plant up and growing

Work is proceeding steadily on a new $5 million, state-of-the-art agronomy plant under construction at the northeast corner of the County PP and Willow Road intersection in the city’s Willow Road industrial park. The facility is a joint venture between Random Lake-based Kettle-Lakes Co-op and Country Visions Co-operative, based in Reedsville. The development will consist of two buildings, with the larger building to the west (left, above) to be used for dry fertilizer and seed storage and distribution. The smaller building to the east (right, above) will house offices and a small retail space. The southwest corner of the property, at the intersection of Willow Road and County PP, will be used for several test plots of different seed varieties that will be available at the new plant. The new plant is expected to be up and running by next spring, after which the two co-operatives would begin phasing out older facilities. Kettle-Lakes and Country Visions earlier this year announced plan to merge. Negotiations for that merger are still ongoing.
