Knaus, Bagnall again all-league first team

Senior Cade Knaus of Plymouth and Matthew Bagnall of Howards Grove earned all-conference first-team recognition in boys golf for the second straight year.

Senior Jake Willeford, a senior, joins his Panther teammate Knaus on the All-East Central Conference first team. Willeford was a second-team golfer last year. Knaus and Willeford led PHS to the overall ECC title this past season.

Bagnall and Tiger teammate Jack Baldwin, a sophomore, are on the All-Big East Conference first unit. Baldwin was on the second team in 2016.

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters’ Brennen Cain, a senior, is on the All-BEC first team. Cain was honorable mention last year.

The All-ECC and All-BEC teams are determined by a point system which is based on each golfer’s finishes in the conference season which includes nine-hole meets and an 18-hole tournament for each league.

Knaus and first-team player Solomon Zarling of Kettle Moraine Lutheran (Jackson) led the ECC in points with 61 each.

The Panthers’ other All-ECC picks are junior Johno Aschenbach and senior Cole Bogenschuetz on the second team and senior Alex Shutter, honorable mention. Bogenschuetz and Shutter were honorable mention as juniors.

The Tigers’ other All-BEC golfers include juniors Mason Valenstein and Jacob Brunner on the second team and honorable-mention squad, respectively. Valenstein was also a second-team player last year.

Also earning All-BEC honors for the Resorters are junior Max Ward on the second unit and junior Dante Mille, honorable mention. Miller was also honorable mention as a sophomore.

Mishicot’s Austin Schnell was selected the BEC’s Player of the Year for leading the league in points with 66.33.
