Legion offers youth gun course

Enrollment is now open for the Eighth Shooting Sports Program sponsored by the Plymouth American Legion Post 243. It is open to youth 12 to 18 years of age. It is an eight-week program that meets on Monday at 5:30 p.m. starting Sept. 18.

If you want to learn how to shoot, this program will teach you the skills to shoot with accuracy. If you participated in the 4-H air rifle program, this program will give you the opportunity to improve those skills. Other youth groups are welcome.

The program uses .177-cal. air rifles provided by the legion. Targets and ammo are included in the registration cost of $20. Preregistration is desired to order materials.

The curriculum, which will include gun safety, is written by The American Legion and taught by a NRA certified instructor and other veterans. Three positions - prone, kneeling, and standing - are taught in detail. Students will receive a certificate of completion after completing the eight weeks Basic Marksmanship Course.

If you would like more information or would like to enroll please contact DuWayne Wieck at (920) 627-1879 by Sept 11.
