Van Horn, Chevy help top ag students

Van Horn Chevrolet recognized Lyndsay Fenner, Andrew Helmer, and Jessica Mehre as the recipients of the 2017 Chevy Trucks Scholarship, presented in partnership with the National FFA Organization.

The 2017 Chevy Trucks Scholarship recognizes high-achieving high school students pursuing a two- or four-year degree or specialized training certification in any major. The selection process takes into account all elements of student involvement in and outside of the classroom - FFA involvement, work experience, supervised agricultural experience (SAE), community service, leadership skills and academics. In total, 150 scholarships were awarded totaling $1,000 each.

“These students exemplify all of the characteristics we look for when choosing Chevy Trucks Scholarship recipients,” said Adam Gaedke, platform vice president of Van Horn Automotive Group. “Their participation in the school’s FFA chapter and commitment in the classroom made them a perfect fit for this award.”

Sheboygan Falls graduate Lyndsay Fenner (above left) plans to attend University of Wisconsin-Platteville in the fall and will major in agricultural business management.

Plymouth graduate Andrew Helmer (above) is currently attending University of Wisconsin River Falls, and is majoring in dairy science.

Elkhart Lake graduate Jessica Mehre (below left) plans to attend University of Wisconsin- Madison in the fall, and will major in dairy science.

The sponsorship is the latest initiative in Chevrolet’s partnership with the National FFA Organization, a national youth organization focused on enriching students’ lives by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
