County gets emergency grant

Sheboygan County has been awarded federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter Board Program. Sheboygan County has been chosen to receive $11,845 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

A local board made up of community members and agencies will determine how the funds awarded to Sheboygan County are to be distributed among emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.

Last year, Sheboygan County distributed emergency food and shelter funds through The Salvation Army, Sheboygan County Food Bank, Tee Box, and Simplify.

Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact the Local Board Chair, Patrick Boyle, at patrick@sheboygancountyfoodbank.com for an application. The deadline for applications to be received is Sept. 12. A meeting to determine how the funds awarded to Sheboygan County will be distributed will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Glas Coffee, 924 N. 14th St., Sheboygan.
