WILBERT ROBERT BAUER

Wilbert Robert Bauer, 88, of Plymouth, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer early Thursday morning (September 7, 2017) at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.

He was born in rural Plymouth on December 14, 1928, son of the late Robert F. and Adeline A. (Baars) Bauer.

Wilbert attended Spring Valley Grade School and later attended Plymouth High School.

Following high school, Wilbert was proud to serve in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Over the years he worked for: Buteyn Excavating, Keyline Pirkle, Campbell’s 66, and E.L. Murphy. He also was an independent truck driver, did his own cash cropping, and in his retirement Wilbert drove for various local trucking companies.

On July 23, 1949, he married Doris Gasper in Plymouth. The couple resided in California and Ada, WI following their marriage. Doris preceded him in death on August 24, 1974.

Wilbert was a member of St. John’s U.C.C. in the Town of Herman. He was also a member of the Kupfahl-Meyer-Scheib American Legion Post #387 of Franklin.

On December 28, 1978, He married LaVerne Stuckmann at Immanuel U.C.C. in the Town of Herman. The couple resided in Plymouth following their marriage. She preceded him in death on February 27, 2015.

In addition to driving truck, he loved travelling, drinking coffee and talking to people, and spending time with his loving family.

He is survived by seven children: Cindy (Robert) Vogel of Elkhart Lake, Mary Brown of Sheboygan, Jim Chasteen of Sheboygan, Susan (Michael) Boedeker of Park View, IA, Ruth (Paul) Corning of Marytown, WI, Nora (Les) Eagan of Milwaukee, Eric (Kim) Chasteen of Cecil, WI; 19 Grandchildren; 23 Great-grandchildren; Brother: Randy (Wanda) Bauer of Plymouth; Brother-in-law: Roger (Sandy) Stuckmann of Waukesha; Two sisters-in-law: Margaret Widder of Sheboygan Falls, Mary Ann (Roy) Quinn of Cerritos, CA; and Special pets: Eddie and Mew-Mew.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Doris, LaVerne, son: Jeffrey, daughter: Shelly Bauer-Graves, son-in-law: Colonel James Brown, and brother-in-law: Fritz Widder.

Funeral Services were held on Monday (September 11, 2017) at 2:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Melinda Feller, Pastor of St. John U.C.C., officiated. Burial will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation took place on Monday (September 11) at Suchon Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until time of Services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Wilbert’s name for St. John U.C.C. and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
