Grimm’s hat trick propels Tigers to rout

SHEBOYGAN FALLS – Senior midfielder Peter Grimm’s hat trick sparked the Howards Grove Tigers to a 9-4 rout over the Sheboygan Falls Falcons in Big East Conference boys soccer action here Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers upped their BEC record to 4-1-1 (5-2-2 overall).

Grimm scored all three of his goals in the first half to power HG to an impressive 7-0 halftime lead. William Rautmann and Ryan Splittgerber added two goals each in the half, with both of Rautmann’s on penalty kicks.

Scoring one goal each for HG in the second half were Jet Lee and Lane Reinke.

Earning one assist each for the Tigers were Griffin Gottsacker, Splittgerber, Reinke, Blake Pedrin and Bennett Eb- ertz.

The Falcons’ scoring came from Jonah Tenpas and Brayden Much with two goals apiece.

The Tigers held a whopping 21-8 edge in shots on goal. HG goalies Austin Bender and Rautmann combined for nine saves.

“We played the most complete game of the season and are starting to play to our potential,” said Tiger head coach Bob Peterson.

“We possessed the ball very well all game. Our passing has come a long way from the start of the season.”
