Bruckschen, Schmid spark Tigers to win

CEDAR GROVE – Emily Bruckschen and Caity Schmid had 11 and eight kills, respectively, to power the Howards Grove Tigers to a 25-19, 25- 19, 25-18 girls volleyball win over host Cedar Grove-Belgium here Sept. 7.

The Tigers raised their Big East Conference dual record to 2-0.

Mackenzie Holzwart led HG in digs with 19. Leah Parnitzke had a team-high 18 assists.

“It’s a nice win on the road for our young team. We are learning how to handle the crowd and environment every time we compete,” said Tiger head coach Brett Damrow.

“Only two out of our 15 athletes have regular experience with that environment like that. I’m truly enjoying growing and competing together.”
