Arlen S. Schaap, 101, formerly of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Thursday afternoon (September 21, 2017) at the Waterford in Plymouth where she had been a resident for 5½ years.

She was born on October 18, 1915 in the Town of Lima, WI, a daughter of the late Richard and Mary (nee Mulder) Widder.

Arlen attended local area grade school.

On June 10, 1936, she married John W. Schaap at First Reform Church Parsonage in Sheboygan Falls. The couple lived in Plymouth until 1953 when they moved to Sheboygan Falls. Her husband preceded her in death on November 1, 1983.

She was employed at the Kohler Company for 26 years retiring in 1977.

Arlen was a former member of First Congregational Church in Plymouth.

She loved working in her garden, fishing, and treasured dancing with her husband as they followed Romey Goz Band around the state.

Survivors include: One daughter: Mary Ann Berth of Cascade; One son: Jack (Penny) Schaap of Sheboygan; Four grandchildren: Deborah (Charles) Melis of Sheboygan Falls, Christine (Joel) Schnelle of Cleveland, Timothy Schaap (His wife: Dr. Jennifer Hamilton) of Lodi and Todd (Carmen) Schaap of Kenosha; Six greatgrandchildren; Eight great-great-grandchildren; Two sisters: Marion Lisowe of Plymouth, Marge Preder of Elkhart Lake; and One sister-in-law: Ginger Lemkuil of Cuba City, WI.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; Husband: John; One son-in-law: Allen Berth; Four sisters and brothers-in-law: Ruth (Art) Kranendonk, Louella (Larry) Edler, Florence (Earl) Schmidt, Mildred (Harold) Lampers; Three brothers and sisters-in-law: Rueben (Jean) Widder, Harley Lemkuil, Gilbert (Joan) Lemkuil; and Two brothers-in-law: Jake Lisowe and Raymond Preder.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday (September 29, 2017) at 12:00 Noon at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Roger Mealiff, Pastor of Ebenezer U.C.C. in Sheboygan, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery

Visitation will be held on Friday (Sept. 29) at the Suchon Funeral Home from 10:30 A.M. until time of Services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Arlen’s name.
