James R. “Jim” Stemper, 87, of the Town of Greenbush, passed away early Wednesday evening, (Sept. 20, 2017) at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.

He was born on March 7, 1930 in St. Anna, WI, to the late Allen and Teresa (Bonlander) Stemper.

He attended Clintonville Grade School and New Holstein Schools.

On August 25, 1962 he married Mary Ann Buhl at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chilton. The couple has resided on the family farm since their marriage. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2015.

Jim was a former member of St. Fridolin’s Catholic Church in Glenbeulah where he served for many years on the parish council. He is a current member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake and was a former council member.

He was involved in operation of the family farm for over 70 years and maintained memberships in many organizations including the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau serving as president of the board for many years. He also served as director on the Milwaukee Milk Producers board for over 20 years and proudly served as District 18 director of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board for 18 years.

He enjoyed the love of his grandchildren and children and cherished all the time he spent with them.

Jim is survived by his Three children: Helen (Jim) Beine of Kohler, Thomas (Silvana) Stemper of the Town of Plymouth and Ken Stemper (special friend: Lori Goebel) of the Town of Greenbush. His cherished grandchildren: Dr. Jaime (Dan) Sheridan of Minneapolis, MN; Dr. Ann Marie (Ellis) Miller of Ripon, WI, Kevin Beine (FiancĂ©: Holly Liebig) of Plymouth, Nicole Beine of De Pere, Lisa Beine of Kohler, Maria Carmen Stemper and Ana Clara Stemper both of the Town of Plymouth. Two brothers: John (Mary) Stemper of Elkhart Lake, Jerald (Ginny) Stemper of Fond du Lac, Two sisters: JoAnn Hiebing of Cross Plains, WI, Janet Schade of Menominee Falls, WI; One sister –in-law: Rita (Frank) Schleinz of Sheboygan and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mary Ann; One sister and brother-in-law: Jean and Dennis Zastrow and Two brothers-in-law: Al Hiebing and Don Schade.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday afternoon (Sept. 25, 2017) at 3:30 P.M. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake. Father Philip Reifenberg, pastor of the church officiated. Burial was held in St. Thomas Aquinas South Cemetery in Greenbush at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday Morning (Sept. 26, 2017).

Visitation was held on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 24) from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth and continued on Monday afternoon (Sept. 25) at the Resurrection Chapel at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake from 2:30 P.M. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial funds is being established in James’ name.
