Tigers’ Sixel fifth at Kewaskum Invite

KEWASKUM – Senior Sam Sixel placed fifth to lead the Howards Grove Tigers in the boys meet at the Kewaskum Cross Country Invitational Sept. 21.

Sixel traversed the 3.1-mile course in a personal-record 18 minutes, 24.99 seconds. His teammate John Bell finished seventh in 18:34.3.

Hartford Union won the boys meet with 62 points. The Tigers placed sixth (last) with 109.

Hartford Union also earned the girls title with 41 points. HG finished fifth in the six-team field with 132. HG was paced by senior Mattie Milz who took 10th in 22:43.68.

“Today, Sam turned in yet another personal-best effort, and John was only a few seconds behind him. They both earned medalist honors,” said Tiger head coach Gary Kalk.

“Not to be out done, Mattie Milz put forth a season-best effort to also earn medalist honors. She’s closing in on a personal best effort as well.”

Mia Rentmeester placed 34th to lead the girls squad and Ransom Yasko took 27th to head the boys.
