Sixel leads HG boys at Campbellsport Invite

Sam Sixel placed 12th to pace the Howards Grove Tigers in the boys meet at the Campbellsport Cross Country Invitational Oct. 5.

Sixel traversed the 3.1- mile course in 18 minutes, 15.01 seconds. The winner was Kewaskum’s Justin Reck in 17:25.35.

North Fond du Lac won the boys title with 60 points and the Tigers were eighth at 176.

Winneconne won the girls meet with 45 points and Sheboygan Falls earned second with 47. HG placed seventh at 197.

The Tigers were paced by Mattie Milz who took 18th with 22:52.26 over 3.1 miles. Allison Butte of Winneconne was the winner in 20:21.25, followed by Arissa Scott of Falls with 20:25.75.

“Mattie Milz, Sam Sixel and John Bell each earned medalist honors. Sam and Carson [Moore] turned in personal best times in back-toback meets,” said Tiger head coach Gary Kalk.

Bell finished 21st in the boys with an 18:43.32 effort.


The HG boys and girls competed in the Brillion Invitational on Oct. 3. Valders earned the boys championship with 40 points and HG was seventh at 232.

Sixel finished 22nd in 18:15.46 to lead HG. Trevor Wenzel of Vaders took first with 16:12.55.

Hortonville was the girls champion with an impressive 22. The Tigers placed 10th with 245.

Milz was HG’s top runner with 19th in 22:37.12. Lydia Beyer of Shawano earned first in 20:32.05.
