LOUIS E. ROSENTHAL

Louis E. Rosenthal, 88, a former resident of Oak Creek Assisted Living, Kiel, died Wednesday evening, October 11, 2017 at Willowdale Nursing & Rehab Center, New Holstein.

He was born on May 28, 1929 in the Town of Rhine, son on the late Arthur & Emma (Schluenes) Rosenthal.

Louis was a 1947 graduate of Kiel High School.

On August 23, 1952 he married Lucille Gessert. Lucille preceded him in death on October 16, 2012.

The couple spent their married life living in the Town of Rhine working on the family homestead. Louis also owned and operated Rosenthal Electric and worked as an electrician in the surrounding communities.

He was known for his hard work, and his dedication to his family.

Louis was a member of St. Peter UCC, Kiel. In his spare time he enjoyed fixing and building things in his workshop and socializing, polka dancing and dining out with his many friends.

Survivors include his three daughters; Nola (Steve) Fieck, Plymouth, Karen Rosenthal, Elkhart Lake, Amy (Felice Romano) Rosenthal, Rome, Italy, one grandson, Andrew (Caitlin) Tilley, five step grandchildren and one great granddaughter, Karsen Tilly. He is further survived by three sisters-inlaw, Doreen Rosenthal, Helen Abhold (Bob), Verona (Jim) Keller, family friend, Ronald Crass, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, daughter, Carol Jean Rosenthal, infant son, Andrew, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services for Louis were held at 5:00 pm, Monday, October 16, 2017 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St. Kiel with Lay Pastor, Dale Miller officiating.

Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery.

Family and friends could call at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 pm until the time of service.

A memorial has been established in his name for the Humane Society.

Louis’ family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Oak Creel Assisted Living for the wonderful care he received.
