PHS racked up 37 kills, led by junior Hana Goeser with 13. Jessica Leider and Cece Huhn contributed 12 and 10, respectively.

“A fairly solid night for us tonight,” said Panther head coach Peggy Huhn.

“This first round of regionals is always an unknown. You anticipate how a team will be but when the records vanish and you get on the court to play, anything can happen.

“I feel like our starting group did quite well and played our offense well.”

The No. 5-seeded Panthers were scheduled to play No. 4-seeded Kewaskum in the semifinals Thursday, Oct. 19 at Kewaskum. The winner advances to the finals Saturday against the winner of the Kettle Moraine Lutheran (Jackson)/University School of Milwaukee match at the higher seed’s court at 7 p.m.

Port Washington came into Tuesday’s match as the No. 12 seed.

Plymouth’s other statistical leaders include: ace serves – Maggie Staehling and Huhn, three each; serving – Huhn 14 of 14 and Jana Ahlstrand 10 of 10; solo blocks – Huhn four; digs – Leider 11 and Jayda Martell 10; assists – Staehling 21 and Ahlstrand 15; serve reception – Leider 7 of 7 and Martell 8 of 9.

“In the third game, we definitely put out completely new lineups, including Alexis Holloway and Ellie Staehling whom we brought up from the junior varsity. They all really did just fine. I saw composure and they continued strive to win, and that is all I ask,” said coach Huhn.

“Playing time and experience for all of these girls is what will matter as we continue down our postseason path.”
