The East Central Conference rivals split their two earlier-season matches. PHS was a No. 5 regional seed and Kewaskum, No. 4.

“We took the first set after being behind. Unfortunately, Kewaskum did the same thing to us for the next two sets. After that, I think we played just a little deflated and it was very hard to gain any momentum,” said Panther head coach Peggy Huhn.

“Kewaskum did a nice job this year. Perhaps this will be the beginning of a little rivalry between us.”

Cece Huhn led the PHS offense with nine kills, followed by Hana Goeser and Jessica Leider with eight each.

Plymouth’s other statistical leaders included: serving – Jayda Martell 17 of 17, Jana Ahlstrand 11 of 11 and Huhn 10 of 10; solo blocks – Huhn four; digs – Leider 16; assists – Maggie Staehling 17; and serve reception – Charlotte Suttner 8 of 8 and Leider 19 of 21.

“Always hard for our two seniors to end their season. Both Jayda Martell and Jessica Leider had great seasons,” said coach Huhn.

“More importantly, they had a great four years in our program. They are great leaders, both in their own ways.

“As a team, we now look towards next year and what we need to do on the off-season. We return a lot of players and a lot of starters next year,” said the coach.

Morgan Kappler led the Indians in kills with 15. Hailey Hasenberg had a team-high 19 digs. Sarah Butschlick led in assists with 26.

Kewaskum lost to ECC rival Kettle Moraine Lutheran (Jackson) in the regional finals, 17-25, 14-25, 15-25, Saturday night.
