Another road project ending

Yet another road project will wrap up this week in Sheboygan County, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) northeast region office in Green Bay.

On the State 32 resurfacing project, final project clean-up will take place this week and the project will be completed.

The 7.3-mile, $1.9 million project from the north limit of the village of Howards Grove to State 57 included milling the existing pavement and overlaying with asphalt. The existing paved shoulders were widened from three feet to five feet and shoulder gravel was added. Shoulder and centerline rumble strips were installed along with new pavement marking.

State 32 and side roads remain open to traffic except with temporary lane closures using flagging operations in the immediate area of work.

On the State 144 reconditioning project, concrete driveways will be finished this week. Pavement marking will begin. Beamguard installation will begin.

The $5 million project on State 144 from State 28 in Silver Creek to State 57 in Random Lake consisted of milling and resurfacing 6.85 miles of State 144 and widening the travel lanes by two feet, widening shoulders, replacing curb and gutter, replacing storm sewer in Silver Creek, replacing culverts, updating existing beam guard, flattening side slopes, and upgrading several intersections.

State 144 is closed from Carroll Street to State 28 for the duration of the project. Local access to the project will be allowed at various side streets.

The detour is north along State 28, east on County A and south on State 57.

On the State 42 (Calumet Drive) reconstruction project in the city of Sheboygan, the contractor this week will finish placing the concrete sidewalk and driveway aprons along the west side of State 42 (Calumet Drive) from Main Avenue to 27th Street.

They will place topsoil and final landscape adjacent to the concrete sidewalk along the west side of State 42 (Calumet Drive) from Main Avenue to 27th Street. They will continue work on the permanent traffic signals at the State 42 (Calumet Drive) and North Avenue intersection.

The 1.5-mile, $3.3 million project on Calumet Drive from Main Avenue to 26th Street in the city of Sheboygan, and from Mueller Road to Interstate 43, includes full reconstruction of State 42 from Main Avenue to 26th Street, a total length of one-half mile, and pavement rehabilitation of State 42 from Mueller Road to I-43, a total length of 1 mile.

Work consists of earthwork and grading, water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer, base aggregate, concrete pavement, concrete pavement repair, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, street lighting, traffic signals, landscaping, pavement markings, and sign replacement.

State 42 and North Avenue remain open to a minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction at all times. Various turning movements will be prohibited at the State 42 and North Avenue intersection at times during construction.

Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through any work zone.
